Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office I (DA-RFO I) sourced out free highland vegetables donated by farmers from Cordillera thru the Benguet State University- Agri-based Technology Business Incubation (BSU-ATBI) and were distributed to Persons with Disability (PWD) in Naguilian, La Union and fisherfolks in San Fernando City, La Union on April 30,2020.

In a coordination made by DA-RFO I Sual Station Chief Dr. Mary Jane Alcedo to Dr. Ruth Diego, manager of BSU-ATBI, a total of 2,750 pax of assorted vegetables such as letuce, cabbage, celery, cherry tomatoes, onions leaves, and brocolli among others were hauled from Benguet to La Union.

The free veggies for the PWDs in Naguilian, La Union were distributed through SBM Georgina Estepa-Flores with a total of 1,300 packs while 1,000 veggie packs for fisherfolk in San Fernando City, La Union was turned over to Mayor Alfredo Pablo R. Ortega by Dr. Alcedo.

Acknowledging the good gesture of the cordillera farmers in sharing their produce to help others in need in times of the COVID crisis through the BSU-ATBI, DA-RFO I Regional Executive Director Lucrecio R. Alviar Jr. committed the closed van service vehicle of the DA-RFO I to facilitate the hauling of the agri commodities to La Union. The skeletal workforce of the regional field office were also allocated with one pack each of the veggies.//
