Since the start of pandemic, digital marketing has become the key to survival and success in the entrepreneur world. To assist the Young Agripreneurs’ enterprises compete in the market by leveraging technology, the Department of Agriculture-Ilocos Region through the Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD) conducted a workshop on digital marketing at Marand Spa & Resort in Bauang, La Union, on September 28.
Twelve (12) young agripreneurs from the Ilocos Region under the Young Farmers Challenge program, as well as representatives from seven (7) farmer associations from the Farm and Fisheries Clustering and Consolidation (F2C2) program, took part in the Digital Marketing training discussion.
Dr. Daniel A. Neri, Head of MIS and ICT at DMMMSU – NLUC, discussed digital marketing topics such as the importance of digital marketing in the agricultural process, digital marketing on social media marketing strategy, and digital marketing tools such as Facebook and Canva. He also shared his experiences and tips for creating positive brand awareness in order to establish a good image for their businesses.
Following the discussion, a workshop was held in which the young agripreneurs were tasked with creating and conceptualizing a website for their businesses using Canva.
“Talagang napakalaki ng mundo na pwede mong galawan pagdating sa digitalization. Ang advantage doon ay na-expose tayo sa ganong klase ng technology, lalo na ang mga youth. Iyon ang gusto nating ma-explore at ma-maximize para makuha natin yung pinaka-optimum sa opportunity na iyon.” said Ms. Rhoda Galban, Senior Agriculturist and Young Farmer Focal person.
The training aimed to expose the young farmers to the world of digital marketing in order for them to strategize on how they will promote their products and reach out to other potential target markets in the digital world.###
