To further enhance the transfer of knowledge and technical skills of the students and at the same time improve the breed of animals for distribution in Ilocos Sur, a total of Php7.3 million worth of livestock and poultry facilities was inaugurated at the Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College (ISPSC) in Sta. Maria, Ilocos Sur.
Held on March 4, 2022 with Agriculture Secretary William Dar leading the blessings and inauguration of the facilities, he was joined by DA-RFO I’s Regional Executive Director Nestor D. Domenden, ISPSC President Dr. Gilbert Arce, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Regional Director Rosario Segundina Gaerlan and Sta. Maria Mayor Brigido Camarillo.
Among the facilities inaugurated are the livestock and poultry feed mill facility worth Php4 million, poultry house worth Php1.3 million; goat multiplier house worth Php1.5 million and the artificial insemination center worth Php 500,000.
Aside from the project inauguration activity, Sec. Dar also led the distribution and hand-over of checks worth P37.4 to 12 municipalities and 1 academe in support to the hog raisers affected by ASF as recipients of the Repopulation Project under the Babay ASF Program.
From Sta. Maria, Ilocos Sur, Secretary Dar and party proceeded to Narvacan, Ilocos Sur for the inauguration of the Narvacan Farmers’ Market and Commercial Complex with His Excellency President Rodrigo Duterte as the honored guest.
