As part of the Department of Agriculture’s Fuel Discount program’s ongoing distribution of fuel discount cards in the Ilocos Region, a total of 1,067 corn farmer-beneficiaries from the different municipalities of Malasiqui, Mapandan, Bautista, Basista, Bayambang, Sta. Barbara, and Mangaldan were each given Php3,000 worth of fuel discount cards at the Arenas Civic Center, Malasiqui, Pangasinan on September 21.

Corn farmers in Malasiqui received 242 fuel discount cards, 129 in Mapandan, 130 in Bautista, 60 in Basista, 251 in Bayambang, 108 in Sta. Barbara, and 150 in Mangaldan, for a total of 1,067 fuel discount cards worth Php3,201,000.

Mr. Alfredo Guba, a farmer-beneficiary from Mapandan, Pangasinan, expressed hope that the Department of Agriculture’s interventions will become more frequent because they are beneficial to farmers like him.

The rollout activity were attended by Malasiqui Mayor Noel Anthony Geslani and Rep. Rose Marie “Baby” Arenas who represented 3rd District Congresswoman Rachel Arenas, and the DA RFO1-Pangasinan Research and Experiment Center (PREC) staff led by Mr. Ricardo Bautista. Also in attendance were some of the Municipal Agriculturists of Pangasinan and Local Government Unit staff.

The fuel subsidy discount cards is DA’s way of easing the impact of high cost of fuel to production costs of corn farmers as they use their agri machinery and equipment in their farming activities.###
