
Some twenty-five (25) Young Farmers Challenge Program (YFCP) participants gathered for the 7th week of YFC’s AgriNegoSkwela Training, the second from the last of the 8-week training course at the Office of the Provincial Government Conference Room on February 20-21, 2025.
Under the joint coordination of the YFC team: Ms. Jhanine Agdeppa, Ms. Ajurina Libed-Oticao, and Mr. Harley Andres, coordinators of YFC La Union, YFC Ilocos Sur, and YFC Pangasinan respectively, spearheaded by Ms. Rhoda Galban, OIC of the Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD), the AgriNegoSkwela Training is set to roll on its eighth and final week next week.
The AgriNegoSkwela aims to enhance young agri-preneurs’ business skills and help them pave their way for improvement both as entrepreneurs and citizens. As such, the topics discussed included greening businesses, which focuses on enterprises developing environmental-friendly goals, discussed by Engr. Francis Glenn Ancheta, SSF Technical Assistant of the Department of Trade and Industry, and how to secure business loans from financial institutions were discussed by Ms. Mary Jane Mamaril from the Agricultural Credit Policy Council (ACPC) for February 20, 2025.
For Day 2, Ms. Rhoda Galban discussed topics on the awareness on business continuity planning and management, highlighting capacity development, the importance of a sustainability and risk management plan, all the while giving the participants more tips in improving their businesses. Whereas, Ms. Constancia De Guzman from the Cooperative Development Authority presented the subject, training on cooperativism which emphasizes the need for the YFC participants to join cooperatives.
The youth agri-preneurs are set to graduate on February 25, 2025, on a promise that they will use their learnings to improve and expand their agri-businesses. This activity is as part of the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office One’s support for agri-MSMEs and ensuring food security all over the region.
