Inviting over fifty (50) LGUs and representatives, Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office One (DA-RFO1) Adaptation and Mitigation Initiative in Agriculture (AMIA) Program introduced the Agro-Climatic Advisory Portal (ACAP) โ€”a software intended to deliver agro-climatic advisory to farmersโ€” during the two-day workshop on September 19-20, 2024, at Kabaleyan Cove Resort, San Carlos City, Pangasinan.

The Agro-Climatic Advisory Portal (ACAP) is a website designed to be a one-stop-hub in disseminating agro-climactic advisory using the ever-changing weather and climate as basis for the decision making in growing crops. This portal is initiated by the AMIA of the Department of Agriculture (DA) with the help of the University of Los Baรฑos Foundation Incorporated (UPLBFI) and Alliance Bioversity & CIAT.

This website includes features and services such as the 10-day farm weather out look and advisory that uses the PAG-ASAโ€™s weather forecasts, tropical cyclones and bulletin, relevant information regarding cyclones, droughts, and rainfall forecasts; cropping calendars that shows crop activity from preparation stage to maturity; Seasonal recommendations in the six-month period like climate risks and impact outlooks; and additionally, the convenience of exporting said information to PDF files in order to be printed and disseminated to interested farmers. Farmers and individuals may also register for SMS notifications.

Ms. Maybelyn B. Libong, AMIA focal person of Region 1 has stressed the importance of AMIA and climate resilience to Farmer Cooperatives and Associations and LGUs in contributing to the food security of the region. โ€ Hence the strive of AMIA to introduce innovative and sustainable ways to enhance farming ways and technologies.
