Soon these farmers from the province of La Union will get busier tending their livestock as they received additional goats from the Department of Agriculture, Friday.

In a simple turnover ceremony, four farmers’ cooperatives and associations (FCAs) from the city of San Fernando and municipalities of Santol, Rosario, and Agoo in La Union get upgraded bucks and does as among the interventions from the agency’s National Urban and Peri-Urban Agriculture Program (NUPAP).Engr. Febielyn Calias of DARFO1-NUPAP said that the above intervention

s amounting to P477,900 form part of the Urban Agriculture Garden initially established by the FCA recipients.

Under the program, recipients are expected to increase their goat production to benefit the other members of the association.

Aside from La Union, farmer’s groups from Pangasinan and Ilocos Sur also received their goat interventions this week.
