A total of PHP 48,746,283.55 worth of agricultural interventions was distributed today in Sapilang, Bacnotan to farmers’ groups in La Union.

The distribution was conducted in two batches. In the first batch, 20 farmers’ cooperatives and associations (FCAs) and 11 local government units (LGUs) from District 2 received interventions worth PHP 27,032,750.50.

Vice-Governor Mario Ortega of La Union, in his message, urged the farmers to make the most of these interventions to maximize their benefits.

He also praised the importance of farmers’ groups, highlighting that they make it easier to provide assistance to farmers through FCAs.

Mr. Ramsey Mangaoang, representing Congressman Dante Garcia, was also in attendance at the event.

Meanwhile, 8 LGUs and 14 FCAs from District 1 received a total of PHP 21,713,533.05 worth of agricultural support and interventions.

The distribution for district 1 beneficiaries was spearheaded by Congressman Paolo P. Ortega V, together with DA-RFO I Agricultural Programs Coordinating Officer (APCO) Juanito Malazo Jr.

The interventions included hybrid rice seeds for the dry season of 2024-2025, hand tractors with accessories, rice combine harvesters, four-wheel-drive tractors, pump and engine sets, multicultivators, knapsack sprayers, plastic crates, power sprayers, drums, solar-powered irrigation systems, vegetable seeds, and livestock feeds, among other items.

These were funded under various banner programs and special projects of the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 1.
