Graced by aggie chief, Sec. Willliam D. Dar, AFC members and coordinators were recognized and lauded during the 7th National Volunteer’s Day for agriculture and fishery held via blended set-up on March 24, 2022.
Ilocos region received two unique awards and one excellence award namely: Making Headway through Youth Engagement Award, Outstanding RAFC Sectoral Committee Award, and RAFC Sectoral Policy Development Excellence Award. Along with the plaque of recognition, P50,000 cash was also given along with the latter award.
Mr. Vincent Adorna was also awarded as the First Chairperson Emeritus for serving 10 years in good standing and has made a notable contribution to the agri-fishery sectors.
With the theme “Finding Solutions beyond Limitations”, the 7th NVD was held to recognize and give awards to outstanding AFC chairpersons, coordinators, and members for their efforts and invaluable contributions as volunteers to support the advocacy to make the Philippines a food secure country.
Sec. Dar lauded and thanked the AFC volunteers for another year of excellent service to help the agri-fishery sector on its growth amidst the pandemic. He also led the newly elected AFC chairpersons took their oath as volunteer leaders.
Meanwhile, consecutive to the national awarding, DA Ilocos region also awarded the regional best performing provincial, city, and municipal agricultural and fishery council and AFC coordinators at Hotel Ariana, Paringao, Bauang, La Union.
OIC-RED Nestor Domenden likewise commended the AFCs in the region for their volunteerism and dedication stating “the DA takes honor and pride in having individuals like you”. He also encouraged them to continually support the Department of Agriculture in the implementation of its projects and programs as their role in the agriculture and fishery sectors is very significant in achieving “Masaganang ani, mataas na kita”.###
