With the goal of streamlining the business processes of each agripreneurs under farmer-cooperatives and associations (FCAs), the Department of Agriculture-Ilocos Region, through the Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD), held a Business Operations Manual and Business Management Training at Marand Spa & Resort in Bauang, La Union, on September 28-29.

Members of seven (7) farmer associations in Region 1, particularly in La Union, participated in the two-day workshop training.

Ms. Rhoda Galban, Senior Agriculturist, of the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office I’s Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD) discussed the significance and benefits of having an enterprise operations manual. She also talked about the manual’s structure and contents, and how an operations manual is being created.

During the workshop, each FCA member brainstormed, shared their ideas, and developed their drafted enterprise operations manual, which was presented on the second day of the training.

“Don’t worry, we’re not going to start from zero. There is a template that will serve as a guide in creating an Enterprise Operations Manual, but we prefer that it will come from you because it will be easier to determine if the process is doable or not on your enterprise,” Ms. Galban said.

The DA continues to train farmer-cooperatives and associations (FCAs) so that they can focus not only on the production side of Agriculture but also on the business side.##
