Special Area for Agricultural Development Program (SAAD) delegates of the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office One (DA-RFO1) attended a five-day Developmental Communication Training in Paoay, Ilocos Norte, on May 27–31, 2024.

Joined by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources and other delegates from Regions 1, 2, 3, 7, and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), the event encouraged positive interaction and learning amongst attendees. Topics such as the basics of Developmental Communication as well as its application to SAAD communication programs and campaigns were discussed by speakers, Dr. Chrysl Avegeil N. Vallejo and Zorille DC. Villaflores. Activities also included crafting and developing IEC materials for farmers and fisherfolk.

In his closing remarks, SAAD National Program Management Office (NPMO) Deputy Director Dr. Pedro S. Dumaraos highlighted, “𝘋𝘦𝘷𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘮 𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘭𝘴𝘰 𝘢 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘈𝘈𝘋’𝘴 𝘴𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘢𝘳𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘴’ 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘨𝘰𝘢𝘭𝘴. 𝘋𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘱𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘢𝘭𝘭. 𝘞𝘢𝘭𝘢 𝘥𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘵 𝘦𝘹𝘤𝘭𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴, 𝘬𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘮𝘢 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘭𝘢𝘩𝘢𝘵.”

The event concluded with the awarding of certificates and an assurance in applying DevComm to future projects for farmers and fisherfolk.
