Aimed at capacitating employees to do basic life support action in case of medical emergencies in the workplace, a Training on Basic Life Support for selected DA-RFO I employees was held today, March 19, 2024 at the DA-RFO I 5th Floor Conference Hall by the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office I (DA-RFO I) through its Gender and Development (GAD) program.
The invited resource speaker was Mr. Bartolome R. Reyes Jr., a Registered Nurse and Chapter Service Representative of the Philippine Red Cross -Disaster Management Services and Welfare Service who gave a lecture and actual demonstration on Basic Life Support- Adult, Child and Infant Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
Through the training, the employees were taught how to properly administer the combination of chest compression and ventilation to resuscitate possible cardiac arrest victims or any cases where victims needed CPR while waiting for rescuers to respond to the incident.
Mr. Reyes also discussed basic tips on Disaster Preparedness noting the importance of imploring Disaster Risk Reduction Management in the workplace to ensure a safe environment for all employees at work.
Several activities have been prepared by the GAD program spearheaded by DA-RFO I GAD Focal Ms. Edilyn C. Goldara as part of the month-long celebration of National Women’s Month this March.
