The Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office (DA-RFO I) through the Regional Agriculture & Fisheries Information Section (RAFIS) successfully conducted a 4-day training workshop on Effective Communication for Efficient Government Service.
Held in San Juan, La Union, RAFIS targeted 50 employees to participate in the training where half of the group joined via virtual while the rest attended physically at the venue.
In his video-recorded message shown during the opening program of the training workshop, DA-RFO I OIC-Regional Executive Director Nestor D. Domenden gave emphasis on the crucial role of communication in successfully attaining the goals and objectives of the Department.
“No government service could deliver its mandate of public service without proper Communication. Communication, be it oral, written, or in any other form, is certainly a crucial ingredient to public service.”, RED Domenden said.
Dir. Domenden also emphasized the need to communicate effectively to agri-stakeholders DA’s programs, projects, and activities as a key to successful implementation.
“As we carry on our mission as public servants, we should continually improve, polish, and look for ways to raise our level of awareness and skills in Communicating properly and effectively.”, he added.
Ms. Kelly Grace Mendoza, Information Officer, and Professor at the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University Mid-La Union campus, together with Ms. Yolanda Fuertes, a seasoned journalist, served as resource speakers.
Prof. Mendoza discussed topics on Workplace Communication, Basic communication skills, Effective English grammar, Fundamentals of Technical Writing, Purposive Communication at the workplace, and Proposal writing and preparation. She required the participants to make a project proposal as an output to the workshop. Meanwhile, Ms. Yolanda Fuertes lectured about Basic Journalism.
Aimed at providing the employees from the various operating units of DA-RFO I a “refresher” on communication do’s and don’ts, the 4-day training workshop hopes to simplify and achieve more accurate drafting of communication letters, memoranda, incident reports, and project proposals, among others.###
