In support to the Plant Plant Plant Program(PPPP) of the Department of Agriculture (DA), the DA Regional Field Office 1 thru the Pangasinan Research and Experiment Center (PREC) headed by station chief, Dr. Constancia R. Diaz turned over 16 seedling trays of various vegetables such as squash, bottle gourd and ridge gourd for the residents of Brgy. Tebag East in Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan.
According to Dr. Diaz, the project will help the residents have an accessible source of vegetables right in their backyards. This will also help the barangay establish its own community garden in open spaces for a sustainable food production.
The PPPP is the government’s commitment to promote urban gardening, among others, to ensure accessible and affordable food for every Filipino family amidst the threats of COVID – 19.
The DA-RFO 1 thru Regional Executive Director Lucrecio R. Alviar, Jr., has consistently urged the DA stations to come up with more strategies that could further encourage private individuals to get involved in the food production efforts of the government by embracing the concept of urban gardening, among others.
