In an effort to promote holistic well-being among its employees, the Gender and Development (GAD) Unit of the Department of Agriculture in Ilocos conducted a two-day training focused on comprehensive health, wellness, and managing psychosocial risks. The training, held in the 5th-floor conference room of the DA Ilocos office was participated by around 30 regular and contract of service employees on October 3-4, 2024.
The first day of the training featured sessions led by volunteers from the Science of Identity Foundation Community Assistance for Responsible Existence (SIFCare). Participants learned about various health and wellness practices including acudetox, music meditation, and self-massage. They also received a lecture on the pillars of health and engaged in hands-on experience on the said health and wellness activities to deepen their understanding of these wellness practices.
On the second day, the focus shifted to personality development and psychological first aid. Experts from Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University-College of Management and the Red Cross Youth and Volunteer Services shared practical advice and strategies for managing stress and building resilience.
Ms. Edilyn C. Goldara, GAD focal person of DA-RFO 1, expressed her hope that the training would empower employees to better manage their emotions, cope with stress, and improve their overall well-being. This initiative is part of DA Ilocos’ ongoing commitment to creating a healthy and productive workplace for all employees.
