
Gathering 20 members of the Green Ladies Association of District 2 (GLAD2) of Burgos, Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 1 (DA-RFO 1) through its Gender and Development (GAD) office, promoted product value-adding via Livelihood Training of Mushroom Processing for Women on March 11-12, 2025, at Burgos, La Union as part of 2025 Women’s Month Celebration.
Following the community mushroom production training last August 2024, DA-GAD returns to Burgos to enhance the GLAD2’s agri-preneurial capacity. Under the guidance of guest speaker and retired DA GAD alternate-focal person, Ms. Filomena Bugaoan, the training involved processing mushrooms into different products such as the mushroom siomai, mushroom shanghai, mushroom chili oil, and mushroom polvoron.
For the second day, Ms. Maria Panela D. Gabriel of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), as part of the DTIs information dissemination campaign, educated the women agri-preneurs on consumer rights and responsibilities, emphasizing on awareness of the Philippines’ consumer laws along with useful tips and tricks when buying different products.
This activity is greeted with enthusiasm from the women’s association led by Association President, Ms. Marilyn Calub, ensuring that the training will improve their production and income. It is as part of the department’s support for agribusinesses and mutual partnership with empowered women, all joining hand-in-hand for the improvement of the country’s economy and food security.
The next stop is in San Fabian, Pangasinan, for the days March 13-14, 2025, this time inviting the ladies of Wondermoms Rural Improvement Club.
