Another batch of Php3,000 worth of fuel discount cards were distributed to 1,259 Corn farmers, totaling to Php3.7 million, in the provinces of Ilocos Sur and Pangasinan on September 9, 12 and 13.

697 fuel discount cards were rolled out to Pangasinan farmers from five (5) municipalities in Balungao, Pangasinan on September 9 while 128 discount cards were also distributed to farmers from five (5) municipalities at Sual Municipal Wharf and Causeway in Sual, Pangasinan on September 13.

The distribution activities were attended by the DA-PREC Corn Program staff, OPAg Corn Coordinator, and DA-LGU Municipal Corn Coordinators of the different municipalities of Pangasinan Districts 1 and 2. Also in attendance in the distribution in Balungao was Tayug Mayor Tyrone Agabas who represented 6th District Congresswoman Marlyn Primicias-Agabas.

Meanwhile in Ilocos Sur, the distribution activity took place at the Candon City Covered Court on September 12 wherein 304 fuel discount cards were distributed to farmers from eight (8) municipalities in the 2nd district of Ilocos Sur.

On September 13, 130 discount cards were distributed to farmers from four (4) municipalities and one city in the 1st district of Ilocos Sur, particularly in Narvacan, Santa, Caoayan, San Vicente, and Vigan City, at the Provincial Livelihood Development Center in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur.

It was attended by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Regional Fisheries Office 1’s (BFAR-RFO1) Regional Director, Ms. Segundina Gaerlan, Governor Jeremias “Jerry” Singson of Ilocos Sur, together with SPM Erickson Singson, and SPM Efren Rafanan.

The activity was led by Agricultural Program Coordinating Officers (APCO) for Ilocos Sur, Mr. Jomar Dayap, and banner representative, Mr. Mark Joseph Rala. Also in attendance were the Office of the Provincial Agriculture staff, LGU AEW’s and Municipal Agriculturists.

Corn farmers expressed their gratitude since this program is a big help for them in reducing their fuel costs, especially since the corn planting season is already approaching.
