Six representatives of State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) all over Region 1 pitched their business proposals at the Business Model Canvas Pitching and Evaluation Intercollegiate Category for the Young Farmers Challenge at the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office One on January 21, 2025.

Business models included Coco Delicias from Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University – South La Union Campus (Dmmmsu-South La Union Campus) ,RRJ Mycogreen Farm from Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College – Main Campus (ISPSC), POTTECH and Gundaway from Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU), and ABEsiness on Palakang Bukid (GCK ABEnture) and Morio Cracks from Pangasinan State University (PSU), each and everyone vying for the P250,000 cash grant to further expand their agri-ventures.

Motivated not only by profits and the grant, these young agri-preneurs sought to improve their business models for promotion of their hometowns, preserving tradition and cultural heritage, minimizing agricultural waste, and helping the community.

The evaluation committee is comprised of Ms. Rosel E. Tubaang, Agriculturist II and Ms. Corazon G. Valdez, Market Specialist III of the Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD) as the chairpersons. Other members of the panel of judges offering their honed expertise are as follows: Ms. Angelica Quiban, Senior Trade-Industry Development Specialist from DTI; Ms. Evelyn Guzman-Breguera, entrepreneur and owner of Abundance Agri; Ms. Juanita Gabriel, Saint Louis College Professor and Business Education Program Head; and lastly, Ms. Grace Ventura, ATI Senior Agriculturist and Partnership and Accreditation Section Chief.
