The Department of Agriculture (DA) joined the global celebration of World Food Day with a special event recognizing the creativity and vision of the youth in promoting food security. A highlight of the celebration was the gathering of 15 regional student winners of the on-the-spot poster making contest in Makati City on October 15,2024, where they showcased their talents and competed at the national level.

The contest, held in each region prior to the national competition, aimed to raise awareness about this year’s World Food Day theme “Right to Food for a better life and a better future.” focusing on sustainable food systems and the importance of ensuring healthy diets for all.

At the national level contest, the students displayed their creativity and talents in crafting their art works depicting the theme which was revised on the spot to “Youth in Action for a Food-Secure Nation.”

Five outstanding entries from Regions 4-A, 6, 8, 9, and 12 were declared winners, each receiving a cash prize of P15,000 and a Certificate of Recognition from the DA. The official awarding ceremony was held at the Quezon City Circle at 4:00 PM on October 16,2024.

The World Food Day celebration emphasized DA’s ongoing efforts to strengthen food systems, improve agricultural productivity, and enhance access to nutritious food for all Filipinos.

The Department congratulates all the participants and winners for their contributions to this meaningful event, highlighting the power of art in advocating for a food-secure future.
