The Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 1 collaborates with Central Pangasinan Electric Cooperative, Incorporated (CENPELCO) of San Carlos City, Pangasinan along with La Union Electric Cooperative, Incorporated (LUELCO) of Agoo, La Union for the launching of additional KADIWA markets in the Ilocos Region.

The partnership was called for by National Electrification Administration (NEA) head Mr. Edgardo R. Masongsong via a signed memorandum mandating all electric cooperatives in the country to support DA’s Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita project.

This was initiated after the Department of Energy (DOE), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), NEA, and DA had initial discussions with National Association of General Managers of Electric Cooperatives (NAGMEC) and Philippine Rural Electric Cooperatives Association (PHILRECA) representatives on how synergies maybe forged between public and private agencies to provide farmers and fisher folk increased market outlets besides making food easily accessible and affordable to households during this pandemic.

On September 28, the KADIWA sa CENPELCO in San Carlos City, Pangasinan was opened featuring farmers’ produce of the locality and its nearby towns such as rice, vegetables, fruits, dairy products, eggs, fresh fish, chicken, and processed food products.

“The stalls will be open for two weeks to the public. Should it be observed that this project will be patronized by the public during this given period, it will be extended for a longer period of time,” explained Ms. Clariena Clarin Mencias, staff of the DA-RFO1’s Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division.

Another KADIWA launching will be held in LUELCO, Agoo, La Union as soon as arrangements for the date will be finalized.
All interested farmer suppliers in this project are therefor encouraged to coordinate with Ms. Mencias through her Facebook account Clariena Clarin Mencias. //
