The Institutional Development Unit (IDU) of the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 1 (DA-RFO 1) held a consultation meeting and workshop today, September 10, at the 5th Floor BAC Conference Room of DA-RFO 1 in San Fernando, La Union.

The meeting focused on assessing the current status of Farmer Cooperatives and Associations (FCAs) in the region and identifying ways to strengthen these farmers’ organizations.

During the meeting, participants discussed possible collaborations among stakeholders and tackled the challenges in the implementation of ongoing programs and projects, as well as how to address the gaps.

In addition to the discussions on the status of FCAs, a workshop was held to craft a Regional Institutional Development Plan. The workshop also emphasized the need for a more comprehensive FCA directory in the region.

Ms. Loida Pacursa, IDU focal person, expressed her appreciation for the participants, acknowledging their role as first-hand decision-makers in agricultural programs and plans.

The activity was attended by stakeholders including Provincial Institutional Development Officers, Agriculture and Fisheries Council (AFC) Chairperson and Provincial AFC Chairpersons, and Presidents from the League of Municipal/City Agricultural Officers of the Philippines (LeMMCAP).
