The Department of Agriculture in Ilocos distributed a total of Php26.22 million worth of various interventions on August 23, 2024 at the Ilocos Sur Research and Experiment Center, San Juan, Ilocos Sur.
The Rice Banner Program provided the biggest chunk of Php13.645 million in the form of hybrid palay seeds and combine rice harvester distributed to 10 local government units of the first District of Ilocos Sur. This is followed by the Corn Banner Program with the provision of hammer mill, four wheel drive tractor, recirculating dryer and corn combine harvester.
The High Value Crops Development Program has likewise provided the six local government units various interventions such as pump and engine sets, red and yellow onion seeds as well as foliar fertilizers worth Php 1.729 while the Organic Agriculture Program has provided Php1.70 million worth of net mesh and hauling vehicle.
The NUPAP or the National Urban and Peri-Urban Agriculture Program and the SAAD or the Special Area for Agricultural Development Program provided multi purpose cultivator, forage chopper, molasses, forage seeds and vegetable seeds worth of P249,975 and P307,962.50, respectively.
The distribution activity was led by no less than Ilocos Sur First District Representative, Ronald Singson, together with ISREC OIC-Manager, Mr. Mark Ariel Agresor, Agricultural Programs Coordinating Officer for Ilocos Sur, Mr. Jomar Dayap and Ilocos Sur Board Members Art Oandasan and Third Ranches.
