To provide strategic direction for implementing the National Organic Agriculture Program (NOAP), the National Organic Agriculture Board (NOAB) held a workshop on policies and guidelines from August 13-16, 2024, in the City of San Fernando, La Union.

Key figures such as Undersecretary Zamzamin Ampatuan, NOAP Director Bernadette San Juan, NOAB members and Technical Working Group (TWG) from national government agencies and the private sector attended the activity.

The workshop included a discussions on the assessment and recommendations for the ongoing rollout of Republic Act 11511, which amends the Organic Agriculture Act of 2010 or RA No. 10068.

Part of the discussion was focused on the Participatory Guarantee System (PGS), a component of the amended law that aims to enhance the certification process for organic farms across the country.

In addition, the workshop was actively participated by NOAP operating units including the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards (BAFS), Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), and the Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM). Personnel from the Organic Agriculture Program (OAP) in the region also contributed to the discussions.
