Preparing for the upcoming conduct of the 6th Regional Organic Agriculture Congress in August, the Organic Agriculture Program (OAP) and the Agribusiness Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD) met with their various partners today to polish the various related activities in the scheduled congress.

In his briefing and orientation about the activity held at the DA-RFO I conference hall, Dr. Marvin Quilates, Regional Organic Agriculture Focal Person in the region emphasized that this year’s conduct of ROAC shall highlight the promotion and showcasing of various organic agriculture production technologies and breakthroughs through the trade fair and exhibits as well as plenary sessions to be conducted during the event.

Unanimously chosen by the group as the Guest of Honor and Speaker is Senator Cynthia Villar together with the four Provincial Local Chief Executives in the four provinces.

During the exhibit and trade fair, Mr. Bernie Trinidad, Marketing Specialist II of the DA-AMAD informed the group that there will be 24 exhibit booths allocated for the four provinces and will be used as exhibit and display areas of the fresh and processed organically and naturally grown products by the various members of the Participatory Guarantee Systems in the four provinces in Ilocos Region.

Aside from the trade fair and exhibit as well as plenary sessions, other proposed activities during the congress shall be the awarding ceremonies for the organic agriculture advocates and practitioners in the region along with the making of resolutions towards the formulation and development of policies related to organic agriculture program in tandem with the Regional Agriculture and Fishery Council in the region.

Dr. Annie Bares, Regional Executive Director of DA-RFO I in her message encouraged the active participation of the group in this activity to successfully carry out the goals and objectives of the congress.#
