Close to 70 farmers and AEWs from the province of Pangasinan attended the field day on balanced fertilization strategy challenge on February 20 in San Jacinto, Pangasinan.
This activity was a collaborative effort between the Operations and Research Division of DA-RFO 1 and the local government units in the province.
During the field day, attendees were presented with the final results of the balanced fertilization strategy challenge for the wet cropping season and the initial results for the current dry season.
Mr. Rodolfo Estrada, Jr., the DA-RFO 1 Regional Technology Demonstration Coordinator, explained during his presentation of the project overview that the goal of the event is to showcase the most cost-effective fertilization strategy combination in the province and demonstrate to farmers that reducing the use of inorganic fertilizers and replacing them with biofertilizers can still result to high crop yields but at a significantly lower cost.
Eight biofertilizer companies showcased their products, providing farmers with a range of options to consider for their operations.
