Ilocos Norte Vice-Governor Ma. Cecilia Araneta Marcos thus remarked in her message of support during the simultaneous launching of the Kadiwa ng Pangulo project nationwide and which was launched in the province of Ilocos Norte at the Ilocos Norte Capitol Grounds Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, today.
The Kadiwa ng Pangulo is a project of the Department of Agriculture to help farmers and fisherfolk market their produce directly to the consumers and offer a more affordable, fresh and nutritious food to be served in every Filipino family’s table.
Thirty-four (34) groups of farmers, agri- processors including small and medium enterprises joined the Kadiwa ng Pangulo in Laoag, promoting their various agri-fishery products such as rice, oil, fruits and vegetables and other grocery and handicrafts, among others which were sold at said venue.
In her briefing about the project, Ms. Corazon Valdez, of the Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division noted the relevance of the activity which is to provide an avenue to promote, sell and display fresh and processed agri-fishery products of the farming communities in the province.
The Kadiwa ng Pangulo is a collaborative projects of the eight government and DA’s attached agencies to include among others the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), National Food Authority (NFA), and the Bureau ot Fisheries & Aquatic Resources (BFAR) in partnership with the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte through the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist.###
