Strengthening the Agricultural Program Coordinating Officers’ (APCO) function as coordinating body in the implementation of the various programs, projects and activities in the four provinces of the region, the Field Operations Division of the Department of Agriculture in Ilocos region conducted a two-day retooling program for the APCOs of Pangasinan and La Union at DA-Pangasinan Research & Experiment Center (PREC), Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan.
A two-day activity held on October 25-26, 2022 through the guidance of the Office of the Regional Technical Director for Operations led by RTD Doris Joy Garcia, the retooling program aims to further strengthen the working relationships between the APCOs in the region with all the various divisions of the DA.
In her message during the Opening Program, RTD Garcia recognized the valuable role of APCO as the front-runner in the implementation of agri-development programs and projects in the provinces who are serving as the alter-ego of the top management in so far as coordination and complementation activities with the Local Government Units (LGUs) are concerned. She likewise underscored the importance of the retooling activity as it served as an avenue to identify strategies and effective measures to carry out agri-development activities and interventions leading to a more cohesive collaboration and complementation with all the Banner Programs and Divisions.
Highlighting the retooling program is the discussion of the programs/projects/activities in all the Banner Programs and Divisions of the DA to provide the APCOs more updates and information on DA interventions especially the locally funded agri-development programs and projects.
Joining RTD Garcia in leading the retooling program are OIC-Field Operations Division Chief, Dr. Marvin Quilates and Assistant Field Operations Division Head, Ms. Analiza Ramos.
The retooling for APCOs will have its second batch that shall be participated in by the APCO Team members from Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte set on October 27-28, 2022 at the Ilocos Norte Research & Experiment Center at Brgy. Tabug, Batac City, Ilocos Norte.
