72 out of the 109 aspiring young entrepreneurs were awarded today during the Young Farmers Challenge Provincial Level Awarding with 26 youth beneficiaries from the province of Pangasinan, seven from La Union, 26 and 13 from Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte, respectively.
The declared provincial winners will receive P50,000 cash per youth awardee and all are qualified as contenders for the regional search on November 15-19.
During the regional search, three winners will be selected who will then forward to the next and last stage which is the National Search for Best Business Model Canvas. Regional winners will receive P150,000 each and P300,000 for the winners at the national level.
Called the “Young Farmers Challenge: Kabataang Agribiz”, this program was initiated by Senator Imee Marcos and supported by the Department of Agriculture with the guidance of DA Sec. William D. Dar.
The program seeks to lure back young individuals to engage in agri-fishery based enterprises by providing financial grant assistance to winners which they can use as start-up capital for the implementation of their BMC.
Prior to the awarding, said participants showcased their Business Model Canvas to a panel of judges for their review and evaluation.
The young agribiz aspirants wowed the judges with their interesting and innovative agri-enterprise proposals that showed promising agribusiness ventures.
The evaluation criteria are the following: Entrepreneurial attitude; innovativeness; revenue stream of the business proposal; and value addition.
Due to the existing pandemic, the awarding was done virtually and livestreamed thru DA & Rafis Ilocos Region FB page and account.
