The Department of Agriculture – Ilocos Region awarded around P64 million worth of agri-farm machinery and equipment to 138 farmers associations and groups in the 53 municipalities/cities of the region today, September 30, 2021.
Simultaneously held in the provinces of Pangasinan, La Union and Ilocos Norte, the awarding was led by Undersecretary for Agribusiness, Usec Kristine Evangelista and DA-RFO I’s key officials headed by OIC-Regional Executive Director Nestor D. Domenden and Regional Technical Director for Operations Erlinda F. Manipon.
Based on reported cost of farm machinery and equipment awarded, Pangasinan received the biggest share with a total of Php32.7million followed by the province of Ilocos Norte getting a total share worth P23.6 million and La Union with Php7.7 million share.
Other than farm machinery and equipment, the DA-RFO I through the Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD) also distributed Php 8 million financial grants under the Enhanced Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita to four farmers’ association from the province of Pangasinan.
The Alcala Livestock and Cassava Growers Association of Bersamin, Alcala, Pangasinan received a Php5 million cash grant while One million pesos grant each were given to the Barangay Laois Fisherman Association of Labrador, Pangasinan; Movers MPC-Natividad of Natividad, Pangasinan and Cauplasan Luna PInakbet Farmers Association of Mabini, Pangasinan.
The awarding of projects in Pangasinan were attended by 6th District representative Marlyn Primicias-Agabas, and San Nicolas Mayor Kenneth Marco Perez while awarding in the Province of Ilocos Norte were graced by Governor Matthew Joseph Marcos Manotoc and 2nd District Representative Angelo Marcos Barba.
The awarding and distribution of various agri machinery and equipment to farmers all over the country is part of DA’s efforts to pursue Sec. William D. Dar’s vision for a modernized Philippine agriculture.##
