The Department of Agriculture in Ilocos Region is anticipating the release of not less than Php110 million ASF indemnification fund that will be distributed to around 3,459 hog raisers for the culling of 21,843 swine due to African Swine Fever (ASF) in the region.
The province of La Union shares the biggest chunk of the indemnification fund with almost 50 percent of the total regional fund amounting to P48.15 million which shall benefit around 1,532 hog raisers for the culling of 9,630 heads of hogs.
Of the total fund, the province of Ilocos Sur will also get its share of P32.175 million that is expected to benefit a total of 995 hog raisers.
For the provinces of Pangasinan and Ilocos Norte, a total of P28.89 million is expected to be released to compensate 932 affected hog raisers in both provinces.
To recall, DA has already released a total of P120.635 million indemnification fund that has benefitted around 3,503 hog raisers after the culling of 24,127 heads of swine.
On its latest report, the Department of Agriculture in Ilocos Region through the Regulatory Division, is expediting compliance to all required documents prior to the release of the fund from the Department of Budget and Management.##
