Department of Agriculture chief William D. Dar is set to lead the delivery of agricultural support in Region 1 this week, Thursday and Friday.
Secretary Dar will grace the awarding of interventions amounting to a total of Php97.5M and kick-off activities for various DA funded projects.
In the province of Pangasinan and Ilocos Sur, farmers are to receive agricultural machineries/implements such as combine harvesters, hand tractors, four-wheel drive tractors, plastic crates, power sprayer, and forage chopper, among others worth PHP45.8M.
Meanwhile, under DA’s sentinelling program, a total of 765 hog raisers in Pangasinan whose farms were affected by the African Swine Fever virus in Region 1 are to be benefitted by the interventions to be provided in a scheduled activity with Sec. Dar in Lingayen, Pangasinan.
Other highlights of Sec. Dar’s visit include the groundbreaking ceremonies in Sual, Pangasinan for the agribusiness incubation hub, Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University-Bacnotan, La Union for the swine multiplier farm, Sta. Maria, Ilocos Sur for the Pinsal small water irrigation rehabilitation project, and other DA funded projects of the Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College (ISPSC).
Alongside these projects is the inauguration of Narvacan trading post-warehouse together with the Bagnet and Chichacorn processing facilities for the Nueva Segovia Consortium of Cooperative (NSCC) both in Ilocos Sur.
Sec.Dar in his previous official visit in the region last quarter has been actively monitoring these projects to assure quality and its completion on time. //
