Consistently steadfast on its mission to register farmers in the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA), the Department of Agriculture in Ilocos Region through its Information Management Section (IMS), and the Rice Banner Program, with the assistance from the Local Government Units (LGUs) , encoding of farmers in the system is almost 99 percent accomplished.
With the total of 390,000 targets of farmers to be registered in the RSBSA, the DA in Ilocos has already encoded a total of 384,136 farmers. Bulk of the registration comes form the province of Pangasinan with 169,771 farmers registered followed by the province of Ilocos Sur with 77,221 farmers registered in the system. The province of Ilocos Norte has registered 75,731 farmers while the province of La Union has 61,374 farmers already registered in the RSBSA.
The RSBSA is an electronic compilation of basic information on farmers, and farm laborers engaged in animal and crop production giving them access to agriculture-related programs, services and other interventions from the government.
With the total of 3,097,459 farmers registered in the RSBSA nationwide out of the 7,779,891 national target, Region I has almost filled-up its 5 percent share to the total farmers listed in the country.
