Eleven (11) municipalities and one city in the province of Ilocos Sur have received from the Department of Agriculture in Ilocos Region a total of Php2.5 million worth of agri-farm machineries and equipment.
In a distribution and awarding ceremonies today, September 9, 2022 at the Ilocos Sur Research and Experiment Center (ISREC) in San Juan, Ilocos Sur, First District Representative Ronald V. Singson joined ISREC OIC Manager, Mr. Mark Ariel Agresor and Agricultural Programs Coordinating Officer, Mr. Jomar Dayap in turning over the agri-machineries and equipment to the 16 farmers’ cooperatives and associations in Ilocos Sur.
In his message during the turn-over ceremonies, Congressman Singson expressed gratitude to the DA’s management with the provision of these farming machineries and equipment to the qualified beneficiaries necessary to improve the productivity and income of his farmer constituents in the first district.
He likewise urged the farmer leaders and members to efficiently handle these farming machines and equipment as they would not only help reduce their farming expenses but ultimately help increase their yield and income.
ISREC Manager Mark Ariel Agresor shared the same remarks as he encouraged the farmer-beneficiaries to handle these machineries and equipment with care which may serve as agribusiness enterprise for them while providing other farmers accessible farm equipment to further enhance their production.
Of the five major banner programs of DA, bulk of the machineries and equipment distributed were funded under the Organic Banner Program amounting to P989,460.50 which forms part the provision of bio-pesticides, plastic drums, net mesh, plastic mulch, pump and engine, soil auger, molasses and seedling trays.
The Livestock Program also distributed egg incubator and power sprayer while the corn program has distributed cassava grater with presser and pulverizer that can be used for cassava processing project.
The 4K program or Kabuhayan at Kaunlaran ng Kababayang Katutubo program also distributed vegetable seeder, egg incubator, multi-purpose cultivator and power sprayer.
In addition, the HVCDP also distributed agricultural support such as power sprayer, vegetable seeder, knapsack sprayer, and pole pruner totaling to P745,050.00.
Having completed the necessary required documents, the beneficiaries were able to bring home the equipment given to them. However, projects worth of Php803,320 from the various municipalities of Ilocos Sur have just brought home with them the certificate of award due the non-completion of some of the required documents. Nonetheless, intended equipment and machineries shall be given to the beneficiaries once the required documents shall be submitted to the ISREC.
Prior to turning-over the tools and equipment, the DA through ISREC has to ensure that complete documents and requirements shall be provided by the beneficiaries.
