33 farmers from the Municipality of Lidlidda, Ilocos Sur will be receiving a total of Php1,696,666.00 Innovative Family Enterprise Development (IFED) projects composed of Php1,100,000.00 worth of cattle, Php570,000.00 worth of goats and Php26,666.00 worth of vegetables.

Of the 33 farmer recipients, seven of them (7) are recipients of goat comprising five (5) doe each for six (6) farmers and two bucks for one farmer-recipient. For cattle, 25 farmer-recipients will receive one heifer each while one (1) is a recipient of bull. All 33 farmer-recipients will also receive various vegetable seeds for planting.

The IFED project is a a developmental project strategized by DA-RFO I headed by Regional Executive Director Lucrecio R. Alviar, Jr., with Dr. Jovita M. Datuin, Regional Technical Director for Research and Regulation, to sustain food sufficiency in the region amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

As the main implementer of the project, the Research and Development (R&D) Division headed by OIC-R&D Chief Ms. Cathy Pastor shall also utilize Package of Technology (POT) on cattle and goat production to evaluate the effect of indigenous dewormer in improving growth and health parameters on cattle and goats.The POT shall also include integrated nutrient management, pest management, disease management, among others.

To encourage stronger partnership and give recognition to farmer-partners for their concerted efforts on the IFED project, awards and prizes shall be given to the Best IFED project, Best IFED implementer, Best IFED association and Best IFED family.

The criteria will be based on the highest productivity obtained, highest net income realized, cooperative farmers or association in terms of attendance in all project activities, supportive Local Government Unit (LGU), scope of expansion areas and highest number of adopters.
