The Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office I (DA-RFO I), through its Regulatory Division, distributed a total of P3.803 million in indemnification checks to seven municipalities in La Union affected by African Swine Fever (ASF) on April 7, 2025, at the DA-RFO I 5th Floor Conference Room.

The distribution was led by DA-RFO I Regional Technical Director for Operations Engr. Dennis I. Tactac, alongside La Union Governor Hon. Raphaelle Veronica Ortega-David, Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Domingo Bobby C. Calub III, Dr. Alfiero P. Banaag, and OIC-Cashiering Unit Head Ms. Jasmin Joy A. Artates-Pareja, DPA.

The recipients were:

– San Fernando City – P1,203,000

– Balaoan – P855,000

– San Juan – P620,000

– Santol – P324,000

– Luna – P285,000

– Bacnotan – P228,000

– Rosario – P88,000

In her message, Gov. Ortega-David expressed gratitude to DA-RFO I and encouraged affected hog raisers to remain resilient.

“I’m very proud and happy that today, you are receiving financial assistance from the Department of Agriculture to help you start again,” she said.

The assistance aims to support recovery efforts, encourage hog repopulation, and ensure food security in the province.
