The Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office I (DA-RFO I), led by Regional Executive Director Fidel Libao, emerged as Champion in the Best Float – National Government Category during the Grand People’s Parade organized by the City Government of San Fernando, La Union.
The award, along with a ₱50,000 cash prize, was presented during the flag raising ceremony on March 16, 2026 at the San Fernando City Hall.
The DA-RFO I float presented an interpretation of Sustainable Development Goal 2: Zero Hunger, highlighting how the Department ensures sustainable food production in the Ilocos Region. The display featured various crops and livestock raised by Ilocos farmers, symbolizing the region’s strong agricultural sector that helps ensure food on every Filipino family’s table.
Joining RED Libao in receiving the award were Dr. Jacinta Marissa Olalan, Chief of the Administrative and Finance Division, Ms. Grace Villanueva, Human Resource Management Officer, Chief of Staff, Ms. Lilibeth Carreon and staff of the General Services Section, who conceptualized and crafted the winning float.
