Joining efforts to increase the number of Good Animal Husbandry Practices (GAHP) certified farms in Ilocos Region and to increase the adoption of GAHP standards at the farm level, the Department of Agriculture-RFO I through its Regulatory Division in tandem with the Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards (BAFS) conducted a 3-day training workshop for the identified members of the Regional Good Animal Husbandry Practices Team (RGhT) in Ilocos Region.
Consistent to its name as the country’s premiere Region, the Ilocos Region has continuously soared high after topping once more the number of provincial awardees during the recently concluded Annual Awarding rites of the 2016 National Rice Achievers held at the Philippine International Convention Center, Manila on May 24, 2017.
Region I bags major awards in 2016 Rice Achievers Awarding
Continually getting the choice-award in the annual Rice Achievers Award (RAA), Region I for the nth time brought home again the bacon as the Provinces of Pangasinan and La Union were adjudged as among the Most Outstanding Provinces in the 2016 RAA held in the Philippine International Convention Center. Vice Governor Jose Calimlim of Pangasinan and Governor Emmanuel Pacoy Ortega of La Union personally receive the Plaque of Recognition and the P4.0M award thru a mock check, among other incentives.
As the first responders on reported animal disease outbreaks in a municipality/city, the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office I (DA-RFO 1) thru the Livestock Banner program, has seen the importance of empowering the Livestock Implementers hence, the conduct of Table Top Simulation Exercises on Foot & Mouth Disease (FMD) and the Avian Influenza Preparedness Program (AIPP).
