"TISOY" WEAKENS INTO A TROPICAL STORM AS IT CONTINUES TO ENCOUNTER THE NORTHEAST MONSOON SURGE OVER THE WEST PHILIPPINE SEA.

The damages and losses brought by Typhoon “TISOY” has increased from Php 531.61M to Php 1.93 B with volume of production loss of 106,525 metric tons, affecting 47.639 hectares and 20,830 farmers. The increase is due to the updated reports from CALABARZON and Bicol Region and additional reports from Central Luzon, MIMAROPA, and Western Visayas. The affected crops were rice, corn, high value crops, livestock and agri-facilities.

 

Interventions are ready for affected farmers and fisherfolk in Bicol Region amounting to Php 181 million for rice, corn, high value crops, livestock, credit fund, relief goods, fishing paraphernalia, allocation for dry season planting and coconut seedlings.

DA-RFO III, IV-A, MIMAROPA, V and VI have seed reserves with quantity of 76,060 bags of rice seeds, 14,672 bags of corn seeds and 322 bags of high value crops seeds to be distributed to the affected farmers who are ready to replant.

The monitoring and field validation of the affected areas is currently being conducted by the concerned DA RFOs.
