As one of the priority programs of the Department of Agriculture, the High Value Crops Development Program of DA-RFO I conducted its 3rd and 4th Quarter Assessment cum CY 2019 Planning Workshop at Hotel Supreme, Baguio City on November 7-8, 2018.
The activity was conducted to assess the implementation of the various projects and activities of the banner program within the region for the third and fourth quarter of the year and to plan and set commodity targets for CY 2019.
It was attended by Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) in-charge of the high-value crops program from the four provinces of the region.
One representative from each province reported their accomplishments during the past quarters however RED Lucrecio Alviar, Jr. requested them to share the success stories of high value farmers from their provinces on the next scheduled assessment to know whether the interventions given has a positive impact.
Aside from the reporting of accomplishments, the activity was also highlighted by the participation of officials from Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation and Agricultural Credit Policy Council who gave updates on the Crop Insurance for HVC commodities and Agriculture Credit Facility Program that can be availed by the farmers.
The AEWs actively participated during the discussion and raised queries from their farmers who are interested to avail of their programs especially those who have been affected by typhoon Ompong and typhoon Rosita.
The activity ended with the presentation of their workshop output on commodity target setting and HVCDP interventions for FY 2019.
